Reality star and businesswoman Bethenny Frankel has successfully sold her stunning Connecticut estate for $7.83 million, earning an impressive $3.58 million profit on the property she purchased just three years ago. “The Real Housewives of New York” alum bought the three-acre Greenwich compound, known as Applejack Farm, for $4.25 million in 2021 before relocating to Florida with her 15-year-old daughter, Bryn, Page Six reports.
The historic colonial mansion, originally constructed in 1743, represents one of Greenwich’s oldest surviving structures. It previously belonged to former Connecticut governor Lowell Weicker from 1989 to 2001, according to Architectural Digest. The main residence spans approximately 6,500 square feet and features five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. An additional guest cottage provides two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms.
The expansive grounds include numerous amenities that make the property particularly attractive to potential buyers. The estate boasts a standalone studio, a three-car garage, and a stone-paved patio with a fire pit. It also includes a unique “party barn” designed for entertaining guests, according to Page Six.
Frankel invested significant effort into modernizing the centuries-old property while preserving its historic character. Her kitchen renovation included top-of-the-line La Cornue appliances, exposed beam ceilings, fresh marble countertops, and built-in bench seating. The previously white cabinets were dramatically updated with an edgy black paint finish, as noted by Architectural Digest.
Design Vision Meets Historic Charm
The Skinnygirl founder demonstrated her design sensibilities by blending contemporary elements with the home’s colonial architecture. She incorporated mixed wallpaper patterns, bold color choices, and updated light fixtures throughout the residence. This choice created visual interest while respecting the property’s historical significance.
Additional thoughtful touches included a cozy wood-paneled sitting room, a formal dining area with a wood-burning fireplace, and a covered wraparound porch featuring a charming swing chair. The living spaces showcased contemporary elegance with comfortable furnishings and bright color palettes.
Strategic Move for Family Priorities
Frankel’s decision to leave Connecticut stemmed from prioritizing her daughter’s well-being and academic goals. She announced the move to Florida in April, explaining that circumstances arose making the relocation “the best and healthiest” choice for both herself and Bryn, according to Page Six.
“Bryn is Bethenny’s top priority, and the decision to move to Florida was all about supporting her,” a source told the outlet. “The move reflects Bryn’s academic and athletic goals and was made with her physical and emotional well-being front and center.”
The off-market transaction was handled by Jeff Jackson of Corcoran Centric Realty. Jackson emphasized the rarity of such historic properties in Greenwich’s competitive market. “In a town where demand continues to outpace supply, even at the highest end of the market, the opportunity to own a legacy estate such as this one is very rare,” Jackson stated in his press release, per Architectural Digest.
