Bethenny Frankel Reveals Real Reason for Florida Move From NYC

As long as we’ve known Bethenny Frankel, she’s called New York City her home base. Raised in the Big Apple, she built her Skinnygirl empire and starred on Real Housewives of New York. Her brand has long been rooted in NYC grit and glamor. However, she recently decided to trade Manhattan skyscrapers for the Florida sunshine.

A few days ago, Bethenny revealed why she and her 14-year-old daughter, Bryn Hoppy, suddenly packed up and moved south to Florida.

Bethenny Frankel “was drowning” in large NYC estate before Florida move

Bethenny posted a TikTok on May 2, explaining in-depth why it was time for her and Bryn to put down roots in The Sunshine State. “The morning of March 19th, this wasn’t even a thought, and by that evening, a series of events transpired, and we decided it was the best move to move here,” Bethenny explained. “Within five weeks, [we] had sold and bought a home in both places. We’ll keep this apartment, but I sold my home and bought a house in Florida.”

The reality star said her spacious New York-area property, located in Greenwich, CT, no longer made sense for their lifestyle.

“It was just the two of us,” she said of her and Bryn. “It was a massive property, and I made the decision to buy that property when I was in a different stage of my life. I thought it would be this, like, big family home and that I’d be entertaining there a lot.”

That dream never quite matched reality. “The house was drowning me,” Bethenny admitted. “It had an apple orchard, it was a historical house, it had all this property … It just ended up being a place that I spent a lot of time alone.”

Seeking community and simplicity, she made the leap. “I wanted to simplify,” she said. “My simplification is someone else’s complication … but I just took on too much.”

Bethenny said the decision centered around Bryn’s happiness. “The moment it became about her, I was able to be honest with myself … and it freed both of us.”

Though they’ll keep a home in the Hamptons and an apartment in NYC, Florida is now their home base. “I think I’ll be lighter and brighter, and happier in the coming months,” Bethenny said. “I’m excited for this next chapter.”

Surely, with her new closer proximity to the ocean, we can expect several more close-up seafood feasts!
