Bethenny Frankel is Keeping up with Kim Kardashian. She also has some advice for the reality TV star and businesswoman’s ongoing feud with ex-husband Kanye West. Bethenny hopped on social media to share some of her hard-earned knowledge and expertise.
The self-proclaimed custody expert and former star of Real Housewives of New York talked directly to the Skims creator online after Kim and Kanye’s custody fight intensified after she found out that Kanye had included North in a song featuring embattled rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Bethenny Frankel has advice for Kim Kardashian against Kanye West in Diddy song drama with daughter North
The issue started when Kanye dropped his song in a since-deleted social media post. Naturally, Kim was upset that their daughter was in a song with Diddy and Bethenny shared her opinion as someone “who has been through a horrific, decade-long divorce on a two-year marriage and got primary custody and no child support that I had to pay.”
Bethenny spoke about the issue while preparing a fruit salad. The RHONY alum said, “Kim is texting Kanye who is not a rational person. And she’s texting him as if he is a rational person.”
“She should not be speaking to him at all,” Bethenny added. “She should be speaking to him by proxy. Someone else should be the one interacting with him because, again, he’s not rational. He’s sharing her texts, and that’s a violation.”
The singer did indeed share screenshots of the text messages he received from his ex-wife arguing over the fact that Kim trademarked their preteen’s name to prevent her image from being used without her consent. That caused a big blow-up.
Ultimately Kanye released the song anyway because “men make the decisions.”
Bethenny recommended that Kim not worry about the trademark and focus instead on getting legal “decision-making” rights. She said this is the most “crucial” aspect of a divorce because what if something happens that requires big decisions like medical, educational, or religious?
Bethenny added that the sane, rational, non-punitive party needs to “be making those decisions.” She explained that legal decision-making powers would trump the trademark. Plus, custody matters are always about “what’s in the best interest of the child,”
Bethenny shared instances from her own battles with ex-husband Jason Hoppy and their daughter Brynn. Bethenny and Jason married in 2010 and split up in 2012, but only finalized their divorce in 2021.
Kim filed for divorce in 2021 and settled one year later continuously clashing about co-parenting and other issues with Kim often making headlines crying over their difficult dynamic.
