BGT's Simon Cowell breaks silence over 'fix' allegations with five-word response

During the final week of auditions on Britain's Got Talent, an audience member begged for an opportunity to audition and managed to convince Simon Cowell to let him sing on Saturday night.

Simon Cowell has proposed taking a lie detector test to dispel any suspicions of a fix after an audience member pleaded for a chance to audition on Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent.

During the final week of auditions on the ITV show, an audience member made a bold plea from the crowd. He could be heard shouting: "Simon, Simon, 19 years I've tried to get in front of you. Can you give me an opportunity?

Skeptical at first, Simon asked: "Is this a wind up?", although he eventually agreed to let the man have his moment on stage.

Max Fox, a home-grown talent, shared that it was his "dream" to perform for Simon Cowell. Following the unexpected exchange, he took to the Blackpool stage and belted out Frank Sinatra's classic My Way wowing the judges and scoring the last Golden Buzzer of the season, reports Manchester Evening News.

Subsequently, Simon addressed allegations that the incident was pre-arranged. The music mogul said: "I think I should be wired to a lie detector machine in the future to prove I'm speaking the truth because when something like this happens people instantly shout fix."

"In this case do you really think I could be bothered to plant someone in the audience? No. But that's exactly what happened."

Amanda Holden backed him up, asserting the absence of any trickery and saying: "I know that's what people will say, but I promise it wasn't. It was like a moment from a movie. This guy was in the audience and kept putting his hand up, asking Simon to let him sing.

"Eventually Simon agreed, so he got up – and was a knockout. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and had to press the golden buzzer.

"We knew nothing about him, he just got in the audience that day and talked his way on stage. I have so much respect for him taking his shot when he got it.

"He's got balls, that's for sure. In auditions, we don't know what to expect from one moment to the next."

In an unprecedented twist on ITV's Britain's Got Talent, a member of the audience managed to snag a spot onstage for an impromptu audition.

With the live shows kicking off from Saturday 26 April, audiences can expect even more shocks as the semi-finals commence.
