The world of baseball lost one of its most well known players on July 28 as Chicago Cubs legend Ryne Sandberg died at the age of 65.

Bill Murray Reveals Surprising Nickname for Late Cubs Legend Ryne Sandberg in Heartfelt Video

Sandberg is survived by Margaret Koehnemann. The man known as 'Ryno' had battled prostate cancer up until his death, sending a wave of memories and sadness over Cubs and Major League Baseball fans.

The Cubs made a post about a special uniform patch in honor of Sandberg on their Instagram account in response and wore special uniforms during Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, a 4-3 Orioles win.

On Saturday, video surfaced of Cubs superfan and Sandberg friend Bill Murray sharing his heartfelt thoughts on the Cubs legend, during which he praised him for his maturation and evolution as a person during the time that he knew him.

"It's been hard to watch the last few days and watching the pregames, and seeing all his teammates talk about him and really being close to tears all the time," Murray said in a video shared by the Marquee Sports Network.

"Because, the thing that was amazing about him, to me, is he did what we're supposed to do, he just kept evolving as a person, he just became more and more of a person," Murray continued.

Murray described his friendship with Sandberg as "like a hippo and a gator."

"Each time we saw each other, we could look at each other and go, that gator is, he's more than he was the last time, and we looked at each other that way...Both of us evolved," Murray added, later talking about the Sandberg statue unveiling at Gallagher Way near the famous Wrigley Field in Chicago, calling him "like a love machine."
