Bills Accused Of Too Many Roster Holes Despite Free Agency Signings

The Buffalo Bills have had a decent enough offseason with the franchise re-signing a host of key players led by Khalil Shakir and Greg Rousseau.

Plus, general manager Brandon Beane brought in receiver Joshua Palmer and edge rusher Joey Bosa, as both will upgrade two big needs on either side of the ball.

The Bills also signed Michael Hoecht, Laviska Shenault Jr., and Larry Ogunjobi to add further depth pieces, so one could say the franchise has done a good job with limited resources.

But not everyone is pleased, with ESPN's Eric Moody naming the Bills as the team he thinks took a step back after free agency.

"The Buffalo Bills," Moody wrote. "They needed a game-changing wide receiver heading into free agency. Though Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel bring a lot to the table, it's hard to get excited about the addition of Palmer, who has never proven he can be a game changer. The Bills could also use a new starting cornerback and a 1-technique defensive tackle in 2025."

So Buffalo has roster holes that are going to be problematic?

The Bills, as things stand right now, have done a good enough job to where the draft could help in other areas of need, particularly on defense.

Palmer gives the Bills a home run threat, and he's been a serviceable contributor to the Los Angeles Chargers in his four seasons in the AFC West. If Joey Bosa can get back to somewhere near where he was and put his injury problems behind him, then the defense could be in business.

Yes, there are still holes in the roster, but the draft and free agency could help. For right now, on a limited budget, the Bills have at least made an effort to solve some of their 2024 problems.

Is that enough to usurp the Kansas City Chiefs? We won't go that far.
