Amari Cooper's time with the Buffalo Bills is tough to read. The veteran receiver showed initial flashes, but injuries and poor form plagued the end of the year.
Totaling just 297 yards and two touchdowns from 20 receptions in his eight games, plus just 41 yards and six receptions in Buffalo's three playoff games, Cooper didn't exactly set the world on fire.
But with the Bills so close to Super Bowl glory and Cooper having an interrupted season after being traded and then dealing with an injury nearly as soon as he got to Buffalo, is the impending free agent thinking about staying?
For NFL.com's Adam Rank, it needs serious consideration.
"This one is tough," Rank writes. "I thought the midseason trade for Cooper would be a major boon to Buffalo -- maybe it was the fantasy enthusiast in me wishcasting -- but the veteran wideout couldn't find a consistent role in the Bills' offense, catching just 10 passes over his last six games (playoffs included).
"With that in mind, I understand if he wants to bounce to another place. At the same time, he was a game away from the Super Bowl. Perhaps a full offseason with Josh Allen and the Bills could spark chemistry. Having played on some lackluster teams during his decade in the NFL, maybe Cooper wants to stay in a winning situation."
At the age of 30 and having played for two teams in 2024, will Cooper want to uproot again and learn a different system?
Spotrac.com has Amari's market value set at $14.2 million APY, and we aren't sure if Buffalo will want to stump up that sort of cash. However, if Joe Brady wants Cooper to return, general manager Brandon Beane could offer a reduced deal.
But while the Bills might want Cooper back on a smaller salary, does Amari want to run it back in Buffalo?
Or does he want to chase that one final big payday?
