The Buffalo Bills are once again slated to be one of the top teams in the league this season, and the hope is that they can get over the hump and make it to the Super Bowl. For the past few seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs have been the team that has stopped them from getting there, and the Bills know they're going to have to take things to the next level if they want to compete with them.
Josh Allen is coming off an MVP season where he put up big numbers, and he had the weapons around him to do so. Most of those players are returning, but it wouldn't hurt to upgrade at the wide receiver position.
With Terry McLaurin recently requesting a trade from the Washington Commanders because they're not trying to give him a new deal, The Athletic recently made five potential offers that could work in a deal for the wide receiver, and the Bills were one of those teams.
The trade offer included Curtis Samuel and a 2026 fifth-round pick for McLaurin.
"The Bills could certainly use a legitimate No. 1 receiver, but as of right now, only if the right situation arises," Nicki Jhabvala wrote. "McLaurin is a perfect fit for Josh Allen, though McLaurin’s need for a new deal with a cap-strapped team casts some doubt on the pairing. If the Bills could move Samuel’s $6.9 million in guaranteed base salary, along with a Day 3 pick for someone like McLaurin, I could see them talking themselves into it. Samuel, at least, could give the Commanders a player they could start in the interim."
The Bills have a little uncertainty at the wide receiver position right now, as Khalil Shakir is set to miss a few weeks with a high ankle. Also, Amari Cooper, whom the team traded for last season, is a free agent. McLaurin would step in and automatically be the WR1 for Allen and the Bills.
