The Buffalo Bills have always known how important a person Dawson Knox has been to their roster. The starting tight end has been a great locker room presence and has become a fan favorite in Orchard Park.
Now, Knox is being celebrated for his efforts off the field as well.
Knox was awarded the Call to Courage award by former Bills quarterback Frank Reich and his wife. Reich has been presenting the award for 21 straight years and Knox is the third Buffalo Bills player to receive the award, joining Lorenzo Alexander and Kyle Williams
"This is 21 years of doing this and it's our way to stay connected to Buffalo and continue to give back," said Frank Reich, who presented the award at the 'Call to Courage' breakfast as the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo this past Saturday. "We've been so blessed by that community. This is a special event for us.
"We're trying to honor a player who exemplifies Christian character on and off the field. We really want that to inspire the 700-plus people in attendance. How do we live out our faith in our home and in the community? And Dawson Knox certainly lives out his faith in every aspect of his life."
Knox has always used his faith as a strong influence as he helps people in the community. It's a big reason why the veteran tight end remains such a fan favorite through the years.
"I've never really spoken in front of a group that large before, but it was fun to go in depth into some of those parts of my faith journey," said Knox. "Some of the things I struggled with and some of the things I overcame through the grace of God."
Knox is preparing for his seventh season with Buffalo at this time.
And he continues to build a wonderful life off the field as well.
