Bills fans won't like the list that Patriots' QB Drake Maye lands on

It's a hard fact to accept, but it's very likely.

When Tom Brady left the New England Patriots, Bills fans were hoping that it would eventually start the downfall of the dynasty that was in the AFC East for two decades. It did, and the Buffalo Bills have taken control of the division since then. Heading into last season, the Bills were not expected to be as successful as they have been since they had a huge overhaul of the roster.

However, we all know how that turned out…the Bills won the division in Week 13, won 13 games and made it to the AFC championship game. Now, they got stronger in the offseason and have a lot of players to be excited about for the future.

Despite Bills taking control of AFC East, Patriots are right behind them

At the same time, we can’t ignore the progress that the Patriots have made this offseason to build around their quarterback in Drake Maye. New England drafted Maye in 2024 with the 3rd overall pick and his rookie season was impressive considering the lack of talent he had around him, along with the underwhelming coaching.

After the Patriots’ season ended last year, the Pats wasted no time in making changes by firing Jerod Mayo and then hiring Mike Vrabel, who brought back offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels back to the Patriots. In addition, the Pats had the busiest offseason in the NFL where they attacked the defensive side of the ball and also brought in a WR1 for Maye in former Bills’ wideout Stefon Diggs.

New England also had arguably one of the best draft classes where they acquired a potential franchise left tackle in Will Campbell, a young back in TreVeyon Henderson, and multiple potential impactful players for the future. All of the moves that the Patriots did this offseason is setting up Drake Maye to take a gigantic leap in 2025, according to Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone.

"I have said for a while now that not only did Drake Maye play better than the stats would indicate in 2025, but that the New England Patriots are going to shock people in 2025. The amount of talent and quality coaching they added is going to pay immediate dividends, and biggest improvement on the roster was the team fixing their offensive line."

Maye threw for 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season even though he had the worst receiving group in the league in a run-first offense. The thing that is the scariest that Bills fans should be worried about is how Maye performed against Buffalo late in the season. In Week 16 in Buffalo, Maye threw for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns. He came very close to pulling off an upset, but the Bills escaped with a 24-21 win.

New England has built up their team, setting up Maye for success in 2025. The Bills need to hope that the hype going into the season for Maye is nothing more than just offseason hype.
