The top quarterback debate in football is one that always throws up some curveballs, but there is one constant: Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is near the top of the list.
While for most, the top handful of quarterbacks is set with Patrick Mahomes, Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson, after that quartet is where the debate really begins.
However, we have seen Mahomes' play slip a little, with some thinking Allen is the best quarterback in football right now, but Mahomes' 4-0 record against Allen in the playoffs stops that conversation.
Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, on ESPN's "First Take," did his top 10 quarterback rankings, and he had Mahomes at No. 1, followed by Allen and then Burrow.
"You can't argue Mahomes, you can't argue Josh Allen, and you can't argue [Joe] Burrow," Russo said.
Allen has the stats, and now he has the MVP award; the only thing missing from his NFL resume before it is complete is a Super Bowl win.
Granted, Allen will still play at least another six or seven years (we hope), so his stats are only going to get better, but that won't count for much if he can't deliver in the postseason.
So far, he hasn't been able to do it, with the 2025 season looking like he has the best shot of his career to finally break through.
Allen is already undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks to ever grace a football field; is he destined to always be No. 2 to Mahomes in this era? He needs that Super Bowl ring to make a jump beyond.
