The Buffalo Bills offense for most, is set, but that doesn't mean some nice depth pieces can't be added and in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, Georgia Tech's Jackson Hawes heard his named called.
Known for his elite blocking in the run game and ability to move defensive linemen out of position to open up huge running lanes, Hawes will come to Buffalo and fit right into Sean McDermott's culture.
Playing just one college season with Georgia Tech after switching from Yale, Hawes posted 16 receptions for 195 yards, but averaged 16. 3 yards per reception, which tells us he can get downfield when he needs to.
But as we alluded to, the Bills will mostly use him for his blocking chops in the run game, as his physicality and brute force make him an extension of the offensive line.
Not known for being an expansive route runner, but he showed when he needs to, he can be a viable weapon in the passing game, too.

There is also another thread to pull here, and it involves another tight end, Dawson Knox. ... and something Bills Mafia is wondering about ...
With the veteran having an out in his contract after the 2025 season, the selection of Hawes could be seen as a look toward the future, with Dalton Kincaid the undisputed TE1 for Joe Brady, and maybe Hawes his backup.
Hawes will be one to watch for Bills Mafia next season. The run game is set to be a key point of emphasis, with James Cook (if he's there), Ray Davis, and Ty Johnson all set to run through gaps that Hawes will help open up.
A tough, physical football player who loves putting defenders in the dirt, we get the sense that Jackson will fit right in with the Bills.
