Bindi Irwin Is an Advocate for Women’s Health

The update comes not long after the wildlife conservationist had emergency surgery for her appendix. She and her mother, Terri Irwin, were notably absent from the annual Steve Irwin Gala, which was held on May 10 in Las Vegas. In an interview with People, her brother Robert Irwin shared an update on her health and praised her for being a women’s health advocate.

“She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, ‘Nope, I’m just going to tough it out, I’m going to go for it,’” Robert told People. She did not make it because the surgeon took her in for surgery. He continued, “She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis, and now the appendix goes. Health is so important — it really is.”

Robert also praised his sister as “an incredible advocate for women’s health.”

Bindi later posted an update on Instagram, sharing a video of herself from her hospital bed. She used the caption to thank those involved in helping her and to let fans know she was going to be OK.
