Bindi Irwin is cherishing a special moment as her 4-year-old daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, takes her very first photograph — and fans can’t help but notice the resemblance to her uncle, Robert Irwin.
The Australian conservationist, 26, shared a candid image of herself and husband Chandler Powell on Instagram, proudly revealing that their daughter was the one behind the camera. The post marked a small but meaningful milestone for the toddler.
“This is the first photo Grace has ever taken of us. 🥹 She asked me if she could take a photo on my phone, looked at it, and said, ‘cuuute,’” Irwin captioned the snapshot. “Everything about these few minutes in time makes my heart happy. It’s the little moments that really mean the most.”
Grace’s budding interest in photography seems to mirror that of her uncle, Robert Irwin, 21, who frequently shares his own wildlife images and candid family moments on social media. In June, the upcoming “Dancing With the Stars” contestant posted a series of black-and-white photos of himself behind the camera, captioned, “Back home, behind the lens again,” highlighting his ongoing passion for photography.
Robert often includes his niece, Grace, in his social media updates as well. In May, he shared a heartwarming snapshot of the two sharing breakfast and reading the newspaper together. “Just a couple old buddies catching up on the days events,” he wrote.
Bindi and Chandler welcomed Grace on March 25, 2021, exactly one year after their wedding at the Australia Zoo. In a 2023 exclusive with People, Bindi opened up about her battle with endometriosis, calling Grace their “tiny little miracle.”
“There was every chance that we wouldn’t have been able to have a little one, so to have our beautiful girl, we are so lucky,” Irwin said in the People cover story. “We feel so lucky to have Grace.”
Mutual interests appear to run in the Irwin family. Just as Grace is picking up photography like her uncle, Robert Irwin is following in his sister Bindi Irwin’s dance steps. Robert is set to join the upcoming Season 34 of “Dancing With the Stars,” nearly a decade after Bindi won the Mirrorball Trophy during Season 21.
In a May 2025 interview with People, Robert spoke about the advice he received from his big sister. “There is no sibling rivalry. It’s actually really nice,” he said. “She has just said, ‘Go into this and make it your own.’ She said it’s going to be a completely different experience.”
“Dancing With the Stars” Season 34 is expected to air this fall on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available for next-day streaming on Hulu.
