Blackhawks Accomplished Very Rare Feat in Win Over Bruins

You can't say the Chicago Blackhawks dominated in the third period to defeat the Boston Bruins, but they did get the job done. The Blackhawks had just four shots on net in the final frame in their latest win, even when entering the period tied 1-1 with a struggling Bruins team.

Chicago scored three goals in a minute and a half span less than five minutes into the third period and got just one more shot on goal and it was on the empty net. All four shots registered by the Blackhawks in the third period resulted in goals. The Bruins scored just one on 11 shots.

While getting four shots in a period happens here and there, shooting at 100% during any period or at any time is very rare, especially with how good goaltending is nowadays.

This was accomplished by the 29th ranked team in goals this season. The team has had trouble scoring all season. If they hadn't, Chicago would've been in a better position in the standings early as their goaltending was great, even if they did sink to the bottom.

It's cool to acknowledge these feats when they come around. It's fun when it happens, but the bigger goal for the Blackhawks is of course to get better. The expectation is that we'll see a little bit of that overall next season.
