The Chicago Blackhawks announced on April 11 that defenseman Ethan Del Mastro has been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs. The assignment comes as the IceHogs begin to prepare for the AHL playoffs.
Del Mastro played 24 games with the Blackhawks this season. He has scored two goals and added four assists. At 5-on-5, Del Mastro has a giveaway rate of 3.52/60 (7th highest on the team) and a takeaway rate of .85/60. He also has a 48% Corsi (third-best on the team) and a 48% expected goals share (second-best). His ability to get involved in the offensive zone makes him an interesting player.
The 22-year-old was drafted in the fourth round in 2021, and his entry-level contract will expire in 2026. Del Mastro has been assigned to Rockford on three separate occasions this season and was last called up from Rockford on March 7.
