Reichel notched two points in his second game of the tournament.
Lukas Reichel joined the scoring party at the 2024 IIHF World Championship on Wednesday. The recently re-signed Chicago Blackhawks forward recorded two assists in Germany's 8-1 blowout victory over Latvia.
Both of Reichel's helpers led to second-period goals by Buffalo Sabres forward JJ Peterka. Germany built a commanding lead by the time Reichel logged his first point of the tournament.
Up 4-0 early in the second period, Germany went on a power play. Reichel received the puck on the right half-wall and dropped it to a circling Peterka, who rifled a wrist shot past the Latvian netminder.

Marc Michaelis extended Germany's lead to six before Peterka struck again. Reichel helped advance the puck up the ice to Peterka, who navigated through the defense and placed a centering feed off a Latvian defender's stick into the net.
A wild scramble in front of Merzlikins sees Germany take a 6-0 lead.

Reichel's two-assist performance should help him build some confidence after a rough -3 showing in his 2024 IIHF Worlds debut against Sweden on Monday.
