The Chicago Blackhawks have the third overall pick in the 2025 draft, but there is a specific player they appear hopeful to draft, Michael Misa. The Blackhawks have a couple of things going against them it seems though.
Malcolm Spence had this to say on his interaction with the San Jose Sharks. "My roommate, Michael Misa, is hoping to go there." There have been previous reports that the Sharks want to move up and draft Matthew Schaefer first overall because their defense is much weaker than their offense. If that doesn't work out, Misa seems like the best forward option to draft at number two. Some would say that the Sharks are in a better place to accelerate their rebuild quicker than Chicago.
The Blackhawks have reportedly made efforts to move up to pick number two in the 2025 draft. Per Elite Prospects, "It's been widely discussed that Chicago has made inquiries about moving up from the third-overall position. They're likely eyeing Michael Misa and know it's unlikely he gets past San Jose at No. 2."
So while it appears as though Misa has a favourite team at the top of the draft he would like to go to, the Sharks are in the perfect position to draft him, not the Blackhawks. This could change the plans the Blackhawks have if they were to somehow acquire Misa, but one thing that is clear is that Chicago needs to draft a forward and a centerman like Misa could be a game changer.
