While this rebuild by the Chicago Blackhawks has allowed the team to acquire a lot of young talent, it has been tough to watch the on-ice product through the process. The team has recorded the most losses in the NHL since the start of the 2020-21 season as well as since the start of the year 2020.

The Blackhawks have lost 223 games since 2020 and 210 losses since the start of the 2020-21 season. The only close contender for the worst team in that span is the San Jose Sharks with 220 losses since 2020 and 205 losses since the start of the 2020-21 season.
The franchises had the same number of losses since 2020 back in February, but the Blackhawks have been very bad since then, losing their seventh game in a row. Chicago has won two games in a row just three times this season, but have many losing streaks over the course of the season.
It is a battle for last place in the standings this season that the Blackhawks ultimately want to win even though the top talent in the draft are all very good players. Finishing last gives the Blackhawks the best chance at number one pick and a better chance to stay in the top-3.
San Jose currently holds last place by two points and the Blackhawks have played the same number of games as them this season. It'll be a race to the finish as these happen to be the only two teams eliminated from playoff contention this season too.
