Blackhawks Prospect Sacha Boisvert Is Transferring Out Of North Dakota

Although the Chicago Blackhawks haven’t been winning many NHL games recently, the organization's strength in terms of its farm system has been a hot topic lately.

This season, many players have made their NHL debuts and impacted the team positively. There will be more of that to come over the next 18 months before they truly try to win.

One player, in particular, that the Chicago Blackhawks are excited about is Sacha Boisvert. He was one of their first-round picks in the 2024 NHL Draft as they selected him 18th overall.

Boisvert just completed his freshman season at the University of North Dakota, where he scored 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points in 37 games played. This production, combined with his defensive abilities, earned him the title of “NCHC Rookie Of The Year.” It was a wonderful season for him in his first year post-draft.

His story has a new wrinkle now, though, as he has entered the transfer portal and will switch which university he plays for. North Dakota had an okay year, but they missed out on the NCAA tournament, which could be playing a role in Boisvert and two of his teammates leaving.

Only time will tell which school he chooses, but he will likely look to turn pro after that sophomore season. All the Blackhawks need to worry about is whether he is going to a school where he can continue on his upward trajectory and possibly be in a winning situation.

Boisvert has a bright NHL future, and the Blackhawks have had recent luck with NCAA athletes. They’d like him to be the next big name to join the long line of success stories.
