The Bold and the Beautiful fans are gearing up for a special episode on Thursday, March 27, in honor of Heather Tom’s 38 years in daytime during Women’s History Month. Not only is she shattering the daytime glass ceiling by acting, writing and directing the all-female episode (including a female assistant director, editors and stage manager, per Deadline), but Tom is also promising that the finale of the mother/daughter storyline will be must-see TV.
In addition to Tom’s character Katie, the other women featured on the episode include Annika Noelle (Hope), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Rebecca Budig (Taylor), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) and Jennifer Gareis (Donna). “The episode is about mothers and daughters,” the Emmy winner explains to Soaps.com. “We have the juxtaposition between Taylor and Steffy, and they’re in this euphoric moment. Then we juxtapose that with Hope and Brooke, who are in this extreme moment of turmoil.”
Tom promises that Katie will be there “supporting her sister” while showcasing what it means to be a Logan woman. “It’s also about the Logans and how we stand up for each other and how we are a strong female unit,” she adds. “We are a very matriarchal female unit on the show.” Tom also made sure to include scenes with Katie and Donna so they could “talk about their mother [Beth] and the fact that she passed away some time ago.”

This tender moment was Tom’s way of honoring her late mother, Marie Tom, who passed away in February 2024. “I was able to incorporate some of my mother’s story into that because I lost her last year and wanted to have a chance to pay homage to her,” she says, tearing up, “and the fact that I certainly wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her. It makes me cry every time.”
While Tom kept her lips sealed from revealing any major spoilers for Thursday’s episode, she did divulge that the “climax” of the show is “startling.” She says proudly, “It’s emotional, it’s dramatic. I think it was shot really beautifully. It came together exactly the way I wanted it to.”
Tom is hoping that Bold & Beautiful viewers adore the episode she crafted out of love for the daytime soap. “I understand the genre very well. I understand the language very well. I know the characters on the show very well,” she sums up. I know the actors and their voices. And I also know what they like to say and what they don’t like to say. I’m hoping that that comes through.”
