We’ll be honest; when we first saw Sheila kissing Luna in the preview for The Bold and the Beautiful, it creeped us all out just a bit. After all, we’ve long worried that a meeting between Luna and Sheila could lead to horrible things. Two murderous sociopaths related by blood? Yeah, that’s a recipe for disaster. But… what if it isn’t?
After all, Sheila’s mostly turned over a new leaf these days and, after her initial skepticism, she was over the moon with joy over finding out Luna was her grandchild.
As Lisa Yamada suggested when we spoke to her, “If anyone in the world can truly empathize with Luna, it’s Sheila, right?” Plus, just getting to know Sheila could give Luna some hope “because Finn feels a biological pull towards Sheila. Maybe he’ll feel the same with Luna?”
“Maybe Sheila and Luna can even help each other heal their wounds,” Yamada suggested to Soaps In Depth. “Sheila’s been exiled by so many people, and so has Luna — they’ve both longed for a sense of family.”
Perhaps the most shocking twist that could come from this would be the two women healing and finding redemption with each other, and the greater world. Like it or not, Luna’s not paying for her crimes. She’s been pardoned, which means legally, that avenue is closed. There’s no choice but to move on.
Granted, that doesn’t mean Luna has to move on with our favorite Los Angelinos, but if it’s going to happen one way or another, the best thing for everyone will be if she actually heals and becomes a true member of the family. Who just happens to be a murderer who kept her dad’s wife hostage… But we digress.
Sheila has done horrendous things for decades, and she’s gotten a total do-over. But she’s still fairly isolated, which, in the long term, could someday push her back to her darker ways. But if she’s got family she can connect with, it might just be the best thing for both of them.Granted, winning over the Forresters, Logans and the viewers is a whole different beast. But hey, they’ve got to start somewhere!
