Boston Red Sox & Detroit Tigers Strike a Deal

Trade By The Numbers

RHP – Trey Wingenter

Wingenter made his Tigers debut last season making 17 appearances going 1-0 with a 5.82 ERA, a 3.96 FIP, a 1.35 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 17 innings. This season he’s been pitching at Triple-A Toledo going 4-4 with a 3.31 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, a 4.7 BB/9, and a 13.2 K/9 in 32.2 innings. Could be a nice piece for the Red Sox bullpen and a project for Andrew Bailey to figure out.

RHP – CJ Weins

Weins was drafted in the sixth round of last season’s draft. He’s made 20 appearances going 0-2 with a 4.62 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, a 6.0 BB/9, and a 10.7 K/9 in 25.1 innings. This season at Single-A Greenville he’s made 19 appearances going 0-2 with a 4.81 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, a 5.9 BB/9, and a 10.7 K/9.
