Brandi Glanville Gets Candid About What Happened to Her Face

Former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Brandi Glanville is sharing an update on a medical condition that has plagued her for the last year. Glanville shocked fans with a photo of her distorted face on Twitter on December 7, and in a December 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Glanville opened up about her experience finding the correct diagnosis of a face parasite, and her battle to get better.

In her 2024 interview, Glanville confirmed that she had a surgery in 2023 to try and help her health issues, but, “Unfortunately [the surgery from 2023] was temporary and once my face was swelling and I wasn’t able to speak, but then it started sinking in.”

Glanville went on to describe some of the behaviors she’s noticed from her face parasite, telling ET, “And I’m touching [the bump in my face], and when I touch some area it jumps to the other side. No joke, I have it on video. It’s legit. It lives right here,” Glanville said, pointing to her left cheek. “And sometimes it goes over here [to the right cheek] when it gets mad if I mess with it over here.”

Brandi Glanville Said the Parasite ‘Jumps’ Around Her Face

As she shared in the interview, Glanville estimates over $70,000 spent out-of-pocket trying to get the parasite under control, with countless trips to the hospital and doctor’s offices, with medical professionals from all different fields and specialties working together to diagnose her parasite.

Glanville first opened up about her health issues in January 2024, saying that symptoms of facial swelling (which limited her ability to talk and taste food) had begun in August 2023. She also confirmed she had been diagnosed at the time with “stress-induced angioedema,” claiming that her spike in stress came after filming “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” in Morocco in January 2023.

While Glanville is unsure the exact cause of her face parasite, her best guess is that it came during her time filming in Morocco, as she confirmed, “We had food sitting out for hours on end, and some of it was meat in Morocco. Six months after I got back from Morocco I started having this speaking thing and the swelling up thing started in July [2023] and we’re still here trying to figure it out.”

Despite her continued efforts to improve her health and rid herself of her face parasite, Glanville is finally better enough to get back to work, and confirmed that she would be back making Cameo videos for fans in a December 5 post.

Glanville confirmed in her caption that the parasite is the reason she stepped away from the platform, writing, “It’s been over a year since I’ve been dealing with my health issues & haven’t been able to keep up with the videos, but I’m BACK on @cameo 🥰 🎁 🎄.” According to Cameo’s website, Glanville charges $125 for a personalized video message.
