USA Hockey announced on Tuesday that Wild head coach John Hynes will join the team's staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-off.
Hynes will join Mike Sullivan's staff for the 4 Nations Face-off. Sullivan has been coaching the Pittsburgh Penguins since 2015. He has gone 375-219-77 with the Penguins. His 375 regular-season wins with the Penguins are more than any other head coach in franchise history, and his regular-season win total in that span is tied for fourth in the NHL.
As for Hynes, he is now part of the coaching staff of a U.S. Men’s National Team for the fourth time after serving as head coach in 2024 and 2016 and as an assistant coach in 2019.
He coached Matt Boldy and Team USA at the Men's World Championships not long ago. Hynes will enter his first full season as the Wild's head coach next year and will join USA's staff for the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.
The Wild are pretty well represented on Team USA. Hynes is the assistant coach, Bill Guerin, who is the Wild's President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, is the GM for USA, and Chris Kelleher, who is the Wild's assistant General Manager, will serve as the director of player personnel.
