Britain's Got Talent viewers have accused ITV bosses of trying to "fix" the show over "nonsense" new rules.

At the start of tonight's episode (Saturday, April 26), Ant and Dec announced that judge Amanda Holden would be in charge of the show's first-ever semi-final golden buzzer.

This prompted many fans to slam the announcement, with some pointing out that this could be used to rig the show.

One annoyed fan said: "A golden buzzer could go to the same person twice in a series. What a load of nonsense."

Another penned: "Stop arguing about Golden Buzzer. we know it's a fix. Get on with it!"

While a third BGT fan added: "Ain't beating the fix allegations."

A fourth accused: "Simon trying to control who gets to the final now, and Amanda will be told beforehand who to press the golden buzzer for, by Simon the control freak."

Ant and Dec speak out on the major format change for Britain's Got Talent

This comes after long-time presenting duo Ant and Dec shared their thoughts on a recent change made to the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals.

Instead of the semi-finals being aired nightly over the course of just a week, each round will be aired every Saturday.

Discussing the changes, Britain's Got Talent presenter Dec said: “I really think the live shows will be more spectacular than ever this year."

According to The Sun, the ITV star added: “As they’re now going out weekly, it will have a really positive impact for the acts because they’ll be able to work on their performances.”

Ahead of tonight's show, the pair were also asked who their favourite picks were to win the £250,000 cash prize and a slot on the Royal Variety Show.

Dec said: “We had this conversation in Blackpool [during the auditions] and both of us agreed that it’s so hard to call this year.
