A Britain's Got Talent star has recalled the terrifying moment an armed stalker turned up at her home. Connie Talbot shot to fame aged just six after her first audition on the show in 2007, performing Judy Garland's Somewhere Over The Rainbow, finishing in second place. But after becoming a household name, Connie's rise to fame was tarnished by one individual who has followed her across Europe.

Seven years after her appearance on the show, Connie's parents, who managed her social media pages, became increasingly concerned following a string of messages from a man in Germany. Despite Connie then being aged just 13, the man believed he was in a relationship with the singer.

The individual was later reported to the police by Connie's parents but, as nothing malicious had taken place, she claims there was nothing that the force could do about the messages. However, things soon took a dramatic turn when the man in question managed to find out Connie's home address.

She alleges he flew from his hometown in Germany to the UK to try and locate her. "He somehow found out my home address, he came from Germany to my house with pepper spray ropes, knives, walkie-talkies, he knocked on the door and my brother was there," she said.

Appearing on the People Are Deep podcast, Connie, born in Streetly in the West Midlands continued: "He sent him on his way, we called the police, they couldn’t find him for days. They looked in every hotel, they couldn't find where they were staying, it turned out he was camping in a park close to my house. He left walkie-talkies on the doorstep."

Connie states that the man was later arrested and he was sentenced to four years behind bars in the UK. However, she believes he only served half of his custodial sentence. Sadly, this wasn't the last time Connie encountered her stalker, who even turned up at the same holiday resort as her and her boyfriend.

At the age of 18, Connie appeared on ITV's Lorraine and revealed her holiday plans before heading to Gran Canaria with her boyfriend. "I just went to use the toilet in McDonald’s, I came back out and my boyfriend was hiding from me as a joke," she said. She went on to add: "He was going to jump out at me so I sat down at the table for two, I thought he was still in the toilet. Instead, the guy, who has been stalking me for years, sat in front.

"I just froze, I couldn't believe it at first, I was like, okay, this guy is a bit strange. When he said 'My name is... do you remember me?' my heart sank and I grabbed my boyfriend's hand and ran to the taxi rank. I didn't explain anything. I didn’t want conflict either. I just wanted to get out of the situation."

Following the hair raising ordeal, Connie spent the remaining time of their holiday in their hotel room as she counted down the minutes until they could go home. "So there have been some terrifying experiences. I think there's not enough help to prepare people for this," she said.

Nowadays, Connie doesn't go anywhere alone due to feeling unsafe. Speaking previously, Connie opened up about how her mum, Sharon, became so overwhelmed by the horrifying ordeal, she suggested leaving the UK and starting a fresh. She told the Express: "My mum did suggest, 'Let's just cut your hair off. Go brunette and let's just leave the country.' She said, 'Let's just go absolutely AWOL and forget this.'"

Worryingly, the Office for National Statistics reports that one in five women have experienced some type of stalking before they turn 16. In the year ending in March 2024, one in four women aged 16 and over had fallen victim of stalking. In the same calendar year, 2.3 percent of men had become a victim of stalking.
