Simon shares son Eric with long-term girlfriend Laura Silverman
Simon Cowell has surprised fans after sharing a rare photo of his son. Eric was born in 2014 and is Simon's first child with his partner Lauren Silverman.
The Britain's Got Talent judge proposed to his long-term girlfriend in December 2021 and the couple are planning their wedding. They first met in 2004 while on holiday in Barbados.It wasn't until years later that Simon and Laura started a relationship. Since welcoming their son, Simon has said he loves being a father.In an interview with Kelly Clarkson he said: "From that moment I saw the scan, I was like 'That is it, I'm besotted.' Now I just cannot imagine my life without him."
Simon posted a picture of Eric and family dog Pebbles to Instagram yesterday, the family welcomed the dog into their family last year as Simon shared images hugging Pebbles.
Yesterday, the pictures shared by the record executive were met by a wave of love and surprise from fans who couldn't believe how old Eric looks now. Simon wrote "1. Love 2. Even more love 3. It was a long walk" after posing for pictures with Eric and their dog on a family walk.
Among the first comments left on the post was: "Can’t believe how big he is I remember when he was tiny!" Another surprised fan responded "Wait… when did he grow up?!?!"
One fan was thrilled to see Simon enjoying fatherhood, saying: "Being a parent changes your life in the best way possible! It makes you realise what really matters! Love seeing the happiness fatherhood brings you."
Another fan shared the same sentiment, they posted: "I absolutely adore the strong bond you have with Eric. He truly has changed your life. Happy Mother’s Day to your beautiful fiancé as well."
The 11-year-old is usually kept out of the spotlight by his dad and hardly ever pictured on his social media pages. Fans have noticed a change to Simon since becoming a dad.
One Instagram user commented: "Love this new Simon found true love with Lauren and has a family of his own! Glad your mum got to see you settled and I’m sure your mum and dad are incredibly proud!"
Simon spoke to the ECHO in an exclusive interview last year and said he has felt different ever since his partner, Lauren Silverman, welcomed Eric into the world. He said: "Every time you see a young contestant, you go, 'that could be my son'."
He issued a heartfelt family plea, adding: "Everything happens for a reason and I think we all evolve as people. I think definitely being a dad does soften you up a lot. So I would say to anyone reading - just be a mum or a dad because it's the best feeling in the world."
