Britain’s Got Talent’s Ant and Dec were forced to address the show’s audience after a star was ruthlessly booed.
Returning for its second semi-final on Saturday (May 3), it was a busy night for the popular ITV competition. With Simon Cowell having the power of the golden buzzer, the former X Factor judge sent young guitarist Olly Pearson through to the show’s final with his golden buzzer.
Simon was blown away by the 11-year-old’s medley of songs including AC/DC’s Thunderstruck, Guns And Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine and Bon Jovi’s Livin’ On A Prayer.
Apologising for pressing the buzzer too soon, Simon noted: “He was bloody brilliant, seriously, and he’s so small and talented, and carries magic.
“I probably went a little bit early, but I was so excited, and it was just so brilliant. You’re so talented, really.”
Once the rest of the acts performed, public vote saw singer Stacey Leadbeatter join the rocker in the final.
After being sent through, Stacey said: “I can’t even explain it, thank you so much, thank you.Oh my god, thank you so much for believing in me, it means everything to me, this is my dream.”
However, a major talking point of the episode arrived when presenting duo Ant and Dec had to step in as one of the judges was booed by the London crowd.
Speaking to Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, the live audience began to jeer when Ant and Dec spoke to former Strictly judge Bruno.
Trying to speak through the booing, Dec said: “Thank you. Thank you. Bruno is here; we know."
Thankfully, Bruno didn’t appear to be upset by the moment as he spun around in his chair and waved at the crowd.
Asked what he was expecting from the semi-final, Bruno said: “I'm always nervous before every show. Use that to energise you.
“We're here; the audience is fantastic; we want to support you. Use it and enjoy it in a positive way.”
