Britain’s Got Talent's Amanda Holden says 'I'm in a lot of trouble' after 'rule-break'

One last act got the Golden Buzzer during the final audition episode of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, April 19.

During Saturday night's episode, an audience member stood up and said: "Simon, Simon, 19 years I've tried to get in front of you. Can you give me an opportunity?" After asking: "Is this a wind up?", Simon decided to let the man audition.

Max Fox, a local singer, said it was his "dream" to sing in front of Simon Cowell. He sang a rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way, impressing the judges and earning himself the final Golden Buzzer of the series.

After finishing his song, Max received a standing ovation and the audience broke into a chant demanding that the judges press the Golden Buzzer. Despite not having any more to hand out, Amanda gave the audience what they wanted.

Covering her mouth with her hands, she looked at her co-stars as she said: "Sorry, sorry, sorry!"

She added: "I'm just going to say, I've already pressed my golden buzzer, so I'm in a lot of trouble because that's my second golden buzzer!"

Over on social media, some sceptical fans were unsure whether to believe that this interaction was genuinely coincidental. On the YouTube clip of Max's performance, one viewer wrote: "Sorry I'm still sceptical whether this is real, like, there's no way this isn't a setup or staged? If it isn't, then that has to be the best moment in GT history, but still, sceptical because it's modern television."

But another wrote: "I got goosebumps watching it, staged or not he was incredible"

On X, formerly Twitter, @FlirtReynolds wrote: "I'm still not understanding why he didn't just apply and get a guaranteed spot, instead of chancing it for 19 years. What am I missing?"

@Dnbentley commented: "How do you not get an audition in 19 years. Come on #BGT", and @Humbug83 agreed: "How did Max not get an audition when he's tried for 19 years?"

But people were amazed by Max's performance. @LeedSTUnited wrote on X: "As soon as Max finished singing, I was shouting, press the buzzer, and hubby just looked at me saying, he’s not that good. I say no, he’s freaking great. Well done Amanda."

@Quizbritain wrote: "It just goes to show, how many talented contestants like Max never get through the auditions. There must be hundreds of talented acts out there."

Before the act, one viewer made an educated guess when @Jfield03 wrote: "They’re building this guy up from the audience that isn’t a SET UP. gonna be a golden buzzer. Init."

@Ladgaga13 wrote: "This guy saying he's been waiting 19 years to get in front of Simon cowell so why didn't he audition like everyone else has all these years."
