Broncos' Jerry Jeudy Trade Still Haunts: A Deep Dive Into the Fallout and Future WR Plans

The Denver Broncos have been considered one of the offseason winners, addressing key needs across their roster. However, the lingering impact of the controversial trade of Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns continues to overshadow their offseason success.

On April Fools' Day, "The Barking Browns Show" co-host Nick Karns took to social media to poke fun at the Broncos' decision. "Happy April Fools' Day to the Denver Broncos who somehow believed Jerry Jeudy was a bust," Karns posted, highlighting Jeudy's career-high numbers: 90 catches and 1,229 yards. "Cleveland thanks you!" he added, referencing Jeudy’s stellar performance against the Broncos.

Jeudy, who was traded by the Broncos for a fifth and sixth-round pick in 2024, recorded his career-high 235 yards against the Broncos in Week 13 of the 2024 season. He has since moved on to the Cleveland Browns, where he signed a three-year, $52.5 million contract extension.

Despite the trade, the Broncos are still searching for a true WR2 to complement their offense. Head coach Sean Payton has expressed confidence in young receivers like Marvin Mims, but also remains open to adding a veteran like Cooper Kupp or Stefon Diggs. With running back as the only clear need, the Broncos may continue to explore options, including in the upcoming draft, to strengthen their receiver corps. Meanwhile, Courtland Sutton’s contract situation remains an ongoing concern.
