The Denver Broncos enter the 2025 NFL season full of renewed optimism. Before the 2024 season, the Broncos suffered through the wilderness for the last years, failing to make the playoffs since their 2015 Super Bowl winning season, failing to even muster a single postseason appearance since that time.
Everything changed in 2024, though. The Broncos finished with a 10-7 record and ended the long playoff drought, thanks to an all-around impressive season. The defense elevated itself to one of the best in the NFL, and the offense, led by first-round pick Bo Nix, found its groove as the season progressed. The year ended with a Wildcard loss to the Buffalo Bills, but the table was set for improvement in 2025.
The front office was active in the offseason, adding tight end Evan Engram and J.K. Dobbins in free agency and RJ Harvey and Pat Bryant in the draft. Those additions, combined with the likes of Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims, will hopefully help second-year quarterback Bo Nix grow in Sean Payton’s offense.
However, heading into training camp, there is potential for the Broncos to make another addition and add a receiver who can contribute in a key area.
Per Nick Brinkerhoff of USA Today, the Broncos are a top landing spot for former Bears and Chargers star Keenan Allen. The veteran receiver is still a free agent, having spent the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears, and could provide the Broncos with some expert play out of the slot.
“The six-time Pro Bowl receiver still managed to post a respectable season despite the odds being stacked against him, however. He finished with 70 receptions, 744 yards and seven touchdowns, showing there is still something left in the tank.” Brinkerhoff writes. “Allen would benefit from a better situation. While the Bears opted for youth, someone is bound to bring the savvy veteran on board.”
The Broncos could provide Allen with the perfect landing spot in 2025. He wouldn’t be expected to carry a massive weight on his shoulders thanks to a litany of pass-catchers, and you could imagine how Sean Payton could dial up open looks for the six-time Pro Bowler.
Allen isn’t the same player as he was in Los Angeles. He’s heading into his age-33 season and has a lot of tread on the tires, and has dealt with a few injuries throughout his career. However, where he could land, there might be no better fit than in Denver.
