Broncos Predicted to Take 'Joker' Early in Draft by NFL Insider Adam Schefter

One of the most prevalent topics throughout the Denver Broncos' offseason has been head coach Sean Payton finding his 'joker' on offense. The 2025 NFL Draft presents an excellent opportunity to add that 'joker,' and an NFL insider believes the Broncos will do so early in the draft.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Broncos are likely to add a 'joker' early in the 2025 NFL Draft. Schefter detailed what the Broncos are looking for and how they plan to address that need during the draft.

"I do know that they [Broncos] would love to add that one chess piece that Sean Payton would be able to deploy on Sundays, to help last year's first-round pick, Bo Nix, take the next step in his development as a young standout quarterback. And somewhere along the way, early on, they're going to find a 'joker' for that offense."

Schefter's report indicates the Broncos will add more offensive weapons for Nix, and could do so at wide receiver, running back, or tight end. With Nix's development at the forefront of the Broncos' mind, adding a dynamic 'joker' to the offense is a priority for Denver.

Even with the addition of tight end Evan Engram, the Broncos are still in play for a tight end early in the draft, according to Schefter. But regardless of whether it's a tight end, running back, or wide receiver, Schefter strongly believes the Broncos will add a 'joker' in the early rounds of the draft.

The Broncos have been connected to nearly every top-ranked running back in the class and are likely to take a running back during the draft. Getting Nix as much help as possible is a recipe for success. The best teams aren't afraid of adding weapons, even if they already have a strong roster.

While there has been speculation about Denver adding a running back or wide receiver, the report from Schefter indicates the Broncos' willingness to be aggressive in adding a 'joker' into their offense.
