Broncos Sign Third Year 6’6' Tight End to 1-Year Deal Ahead of NFL Draft

With the NFL draft approaching rapidly, there are still some transactions that need to be made.

The most important of which are often in-house, with some players still yet to sign extension or free agent tenders.

For the Denver Broncos, an important part of their tight end rotation just signed his ERFA (Exclusive Rights Free Agent) tag, granting him a salary of over $1 million for 2025.

This news was then ratified by USA Today's Broncos Wire, who reported that the 26-year-old had in fact signed his tender with the organization.

What Does Lucas Krull Add To The Broncos Offense?

Lucas Krull is not exactly the "joker" head coach Sean Payton has been craving, but he is definitely a key part of Denver's tight end group.

The University of Pittsburgh grad led Broncos tight ends in receptions, with 19 in the season, despite only playing in 13 total games.

With 152 yards, he did not exactly set the world on fire, but he made some important plays throughout the season.

Now, with the Broncos having signed Evan Engram, Krull will have to fight fellow tight end Adam Trautman for the TE2 spot in Payton's offense.

And it is quite possible that this group will have to compete with a tight end addition, with a rookie addition being made over the first two days of the draft very much a distinct possibility.

Yet, there is still a good chance of Krull making the final roster as the third or fourth tight end, particularly given his ability as both a route runner and an inline blocker.
