Browns player failed miserably while trying to go ‘Happy Gilmore’

Cleveland Browns tight end Brenden Bates learned recently that hitting a ball like “Happy Gilmore” is not quite as simple as it looks on the movie screen.

The NFL shared a video on Thursday that showed Bates on the golf course trying to pummel a drive using the swing that Adam Sandler made famous. It would be an understatement to say it did not go well.

Bates completely missed the ball, which would have been embarrassing enough. He also swung so hard that he spun around, fell to the ground and let the club go flying.

Bates should probably stick with a more traditional swing.

Many people have tried the Happy Gilmore swing throughout the years, and even professional athletes have failed badly at it. The swing is likely going to make a comeback now that “Happy Gilmore 2” is set to be released in July.

Bates will not be the only person who falls flat on his face while trying to crow hop and hit a golf ball 400 yards.
