Bruins Get Massive Elias Lindholm Update

It seems likely that the Bruins will get their big chance to add Elias Lindholm.

The Boston Bruins have long been linked to Elias Lindholm. They heavily pursued him before the Calgary Flames traded him to the Vancouver Canucks this season. They also had conversations with the Canucks about Lindholm nearing the deadline, but a move did not come to fruition.

With Lindholm being this year's top pending free agent, there is an expectation that they will make a big-time push for the star if he hits the market. Now, it appears that they may get their huge chance to add him.

While on the Jeff Marek Show, Elliotte Friedman reported that it seems unlikely that the Canucks will be able to keep Lindholm. Friedman noted that the Canucks were open to signing Lindholm to a seven-year, $7 million AAV deal.

Friedman later added that the Canucks are considering their next options, as it seems likely that Lindholm will be moving on.

With this news, there's a good chance that Lindholm will become a free agent next month. If nothing changes on that front, the Bruins will be one of the top suitors to land the 29-year-old.

There is no question that the Bruins need a top-six center, and Lindholm would give them that. When playing at his best, he is an outstanding two-way forward who chips in well offensively and is effective defensively.

If the Bruins signed Lindholm, he would immediately become their best center. We must wait and see if they can get him to Boston this summer from here.
