Bruins coach Joe Sacco provided an update regarding this forward.
Boston Bruins forward Mark Kastelic was absent from practice on Friday (Jan. 10). This was after he was clearly shaken up during the Bruins' last matchup after being cross-checked in the head and then fighting Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Emil Lilleberg last game.
Following practice, Bruins head coach Joe Sacco provided an injury update about the gritty forward.
"He didn't practice today, obviously, so we're taking it day by day with him right now. He got caught up in that incident and then rocked his head on the ice," Sacco said. "So, we're just taking it day by day and see how he feels."
With Kastelic dealing with a potential head injury, it is entirely understandable that the Bruins plan is to exercise caution with the 25-year-old forward. While he is an important part of their bottom six, the Bruins can't rush him back if he isn't 100%.
The Bruins will be back on the ice tomorrow afternoon to play the Florida Panthers. Kastelic has not been ruled out for the matchup yet, so we will need to wait and see if he's good enough to play from here.
