Bruins Hit Rock Bottom with Historic Losing Streak and Struggles in 2024-25

The 2024-25 season has been nothing short of a disaster for the Boston Bruins, as the team finds itself at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. With a 30-37-9 record, it marks the first time since 1997 that the Bruins have been in last place in April.

Bruins Continue to Sink Amid Losing Streak

The downfall of the Bruins can be traced to a brutal 10-game losing streak, a stretch that has shaken the team to its core. With a loss to their bitter rivals, the Montreal Canadiens, the Bruins’ skid has reached a worrying 0-9-1. This marks the first time in over a decade that the team has endured a streak this long.

The lone point during this stretch came from an overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres, the Eastern Conference’s worst team for most of the season, adding even more salt to the wound. Before this losing streak, the Bruins had already signaled their intent to move on from the season by trading away captain Brad Marchand to the rival Florida Panthers, signaling the beginning of their struggles.

Since the trade deadline, the Bruins’ performance has been abysmal, winning only three games after the 4 Nations Face-Off break. Their record since February is a miserable 5-15-3, with even the NHL’s worst team, the San Jose Sharks, managing to fare better in that span. One of the Sharks' five wins came at the expense of the Bruins.

Two seasons ago, the Bruins made history with the most wins in a single NHL season, but now, with a drastically changed roster, the team is on course for a historically bad finish. They haven’t been this low in the standings this late in the season in almost 30 years, and it's been a decade since they've gone 10 games without a win.
