Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark is one of the NHL's top trade candidates for this offseason. After blocking a trade during the regular season and losing the crease to Jeremy Swayman during the playoffs, Ullmark's time in Boston feels like it is coming to a close.
With Ullmark being a star with a Vezina Trophy on his resume, there has already been plenty of interest in his services. Some clubs that have come up as suitors include the New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, and Ottawa Senators.
Yet, according to The Fourth Period, a very surprising team has also reportedly entered the Ullmark sweepstakes - the Buffalo Sabres.
Ullmark, 30, notably spent the first six seasons of his NHL career with the Sabres. However, his time in Buffalo ended when he signed his current four-year, $20 million deal with the Bruins during the 2021 NHL Offseason. Now, it appears that they might want their former star back.
If the Sabres acquired Ullmark, he would form a strong tandem with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. This move would also allow promising youngster Devon Levi to develop his game a bit more with the Rochester Americans. Ultimately, it would not hurt for Buffalo to have a veteran mentor their two rising goaltenders.
The Sabres could be a decent trade partner for the Bruins. They are open to moving this year's 11th overall pick for the right price and have several top prospects who could intrigue the Bruins.
