Bruins Must Make Huge Push for Senators Star

Now is the time to bring this Senators defenseman to Boston.

The Ottawa Senators are among the teams expressing interest in Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark. This is understandable, as their goaltending is among the worst in the NHL.

Jakob Chychrun injury: What happened to Ottawa Senators defenceman and how long will he be out for?

The Senators also have a piece that should grab the Bruins' attention - defenseman Jakob Chychrun.

Chychrun, 26, is one of the NHL's top trade candidates heading into the 2024 NHL Offseason. This is because he is entering the final season of his contract, and he has not shown much excitement about signing an extension with Ottawa. In addition, the Senators also have two other high-impact left-shot defensemen in Jake Sanderson and Thomas Chabot.

With Chychrun available, the Bruins are a team to pay attention to in the sweepstakes. They were heavily interested in Chychrun before he was dealt from the Arizona Coyotes to the Senators. In addition, they could use another top-four defenseman on their left side. Currently, their top three left-shot defensemen under contract for next season are Hampus Lindholm, Mason Lohrei, and Parker Wotherspoon.

If the Bruins acquired Chychrun, he would be an obvious fit on their top pairing with Charlie McAvoy. In addition, he would give their power play a nice boost because of his offense from the point.

Chychrun appeared in 82 games this past season with the Senators, where he had 14 goals, 41 points, and 72 hits.
