While there is an expectation that the Boston Bruins will target Vancouver Canucks center Elias Lindholm this offseason, he is not the only player from the Pacific Division club they should have on their radar. Another Canuck who would have the potential to be an excellent addition to the Bruins' roster is Dakota Joshua.
Joshua, 28, was very impactful for the Canucks in 2023-24, setting new career highs with 18 goals, 14 assists, 32 points, and 245 hits. He proved to be a big part of the Canucks' middle six because of his solid secondary scoring and physicality. The Bruins could undoubtedly use a player like this.
While adding a first-line center is the top priority for the Bruins this offseason, they must also add to their middle six. They have an array of free agents who could hit the market on July 1, including Jake DeBrusk, James van Riemsdyk, Danton Heinen, and Pat Maroon.
Signing a player like Joshua would be an excellent step toward making the Bruins tougher to beat. Grittier clubs tend to last longer in the playoffs, and the Bruins need to improve in this area. Just look at the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers, for example.
If the Bruins added Joshua, he would be a significant addition to their third line. In addition, he would be an obvious choice for their power play because of his net-front presence ability.
We will need to wait and see if the Bruins decide to make a big push for the 6-foot-3 winger from here.
