Bruins Rising Star Is Big Breakout Candidate

Don't be surprised if this Boston Bruins youngster takes a big step forward this season.

The Boston Bruins saw many prospects not only make their NHL debuts but also make an impact in the process. Johnny Beecher was among them, and his goal this upcoming season will be to build on his successful 2023-24 season.

Beecher, 23, played in 52 regular-season games for the Bruins last season, recording seven goals, 10 points, and 112 hits. He also played in 12 playoff games for the Bruins, where he had a goal and an assist. Overall, while the Elmira, New York native had some growing pains throughout the year, he worked well in a bottom-six role for Boston. His strong defensive play and immense physicality were big reasons behind this.

However, when noting that this was Beecher's first season in the NHL, he undoubtedly has the potential to hit a new level for the Bruins in 2024-25. Now that he is more adjusted to the NHL, it would not be surprising if he makes an even more significant impact.

Beecher has looked excellent at training camp, and it translated over to the Bruins' first preseason game. While he did not get on the scoresheet, he was noticeable throughout the matchup due to his forechecking and intelligent play. This could be a good sign for when the regular season is here.

Ultimately, after a solid rookie season, Beecher is a prime breakout candidate for the Bruins this season. The 2019 first-round pick has the potential to produce more offensively and continue to improve his defensive game. Because of this, we could see a big year for the 6-foot-3 forward.
