The Boston Bruins will be selecting seventh in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. While dropping two spots in the draft lottery was less-than-ideal for the Original Six club, they still have the potential to land a very good prospect with the seventh-overall pick.
There are multiple players who the Bruins will consider with the seventh-overall pick, and who they end up selecting will be determined by who gets picked before Boston is on the clock. If top prospect Porter Martone is available at the No. 7 spot, the Bruins should seriously consider grabbing him.
While the Bruins undoubtedly need to improve their prospect pool down the middle, a right winger like Martone may be too intriguing to pass up if the opportunity is there. The 6-foot-3 forward has shown immense promise in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and has the tools to blossom into a top-six power forward at the NHL level.
Martone is coming off an excellent season with the Brampton Steelheads as their captain. In 57 games this campaign with the OHL squad, he set new career highs with 37 goals, 61 assists, and 98 points. This was after the 18-year-old forward recorded 33 goals and 71 points in 60 games with the Steelheads in 2023-24. With numbers like these, he undoubtedly has high offensive skill, and he would be a major addition to the Bruins' prospect pool because of it.
If Martone falls and is available once the Bruins are up to draft, the Original Six club should seriously consider picking him. His offensive talent, size, and physicality would make him a great fit in Boston.
