Bruins Star Named Top Trade Candidate

This Bruins star has been named one of the NHL's top trade candidates.

The Boston Bruins are preparing for a big 2024 NHL Offseason. With roughly $21 million of cap space, they are in a prime position to make multiple moves.

However, there is a real chance they will free up even more cap space, as insider Frank Seravalli named star goalie Linus Ullmark as one of the NHL's top trade candidates heading into the summer. The 2023 Vezina Trophy winner was ranked at the No. 2 spot on Seravalli's list.

With Jeremy Swayman stealing the Bruins' crease this postseason, it is not surprising that Ullmark is ranked so high on Seravalli's list. In addition, Ullmark is entering the final season of his deal and blocked a trade to a team on his no-trade list at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.

Trading Ullmark would come with some risk, as he is a legitimate star and has formed the NHL's top goalie tandem with Swayman over the last two seasons. However, with Swayman being Boston's long-term answer between the pipes and the club having serious holes elsewhere, moving Ullmark makes sense at this juncture.

Teams like the Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, and Carolina Hurricanes are expected to target Ullmark this summer.

In 40 games this past season with the Bruins, Ullmark sported a 22-10-7 record, a 2.57 GAA, and a .915 SV%.
