This Boston Bruins star was removed from the NHL Network’s Top 20 Defensemen.
The NHL Network has released their Top 20 NHL Defensemen Right Now list for the 2024-25 season. One Bruin made the cut, as star defenseman Charlie McAvoy secured the No. 7 spot. Last season, McAvoy had the No. 6 spot in the NHL Network's list, but that now belongs to Florida Panthers rising star Gustav Forsling.
Unfortunately, another Bruins defenseman who made last year's list did not make the cut this time around - Hampus Lindholm. Last year, Lindholm secured the No. 15 spot.
Lindholm's drop in offensive production this past season likely played a significant role in the NHL Network's decision to remove him from their list. During the 2022-23 season, Lindholm had a magnificent season, posting 10 goals, 53 points, and a plus-49 rating in 80 games. In 2023-24, he had three goals and 26 points in 73 games. While these numbers from the point are not bad at all, his offense took a notable dip last season.
If Lindholm gets his offense back up next season and maintains his steady defensive play, he could make a case for himself to regain a spot on the NHL Network's list next year. Time will tell what happens on that front.
