Biz gets one of the votes
The NHL on TNT officially announced the nominees for the 2024-25 Mr. TNT Award Wednesday.
Bruins stars Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak join Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper, Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin, Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene and Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk in the running for the “simultaneously being the most valuable to your team and the TNT broadcast” trophy this season.
Marchand won the inaugural award in the 2022-23 campaign, and Cooper took home the trophy last season. During his acceptance speech, Cooper stated, “This is huge for me. This is super cool. My name will always be alongside Brad Marchand. ”
It’s not hard to believe Marchand would be in the running again this season, considering his on-air feud with NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette.
Bissonnette taped a skit in December where the outspoken media personality “suspended” Marchand from the award for a year. Apparently, Biz had a change of heart.

Host Liam McHugh reminded Biz that Marchand’s teammate Pastrnak called out Bissonnette a few times on the broadcast.
“Oh, has he?” Bissonnette asked. “Well, he ain’t getting my vote.”
The Bruins have two more regular-season games airing on TNT — March 2 against the Minnesota Wild and April 13 versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. The game against the Wild at the Xcel Energy Center will air locally on NESN.
The broadcast crew, including Bissonnette, McHugh, Anson Carter, Hendrik Lundqvist, and Wayne Gretzky, votes on the award. The winner will most likely be announced when NHL on TNT closes out the regular season with a doubleheader on April 16.
