Bruins Top Prospect Has Golden Opportunity

This Bruins top prospect has a great chance in front of him.

The first day of free agency was a big day for the Boston Bruins. They notably added Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov to their roster. When noting that they needed a first-line center and a top-four left-shot defenseman, these signings are massive for the Original Six club.

However, while the Bruins filled two of their big holes in the lineup in free agency, another one has been created. After Jake DeBrusk signed a seven-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks, the Bruins did not sign a top-six winger. As a result, there is a new problem to address with their roster.

With GM Don Sweeney opting not to sign a top-six forward, the Bruins will likely use one of their prospects for the role. One player with a big opportunity in front of them because of this is Fabian Lysell.

Lysell, 21, is a clear candidate for the Bruins' roster next season. The 2021 first-round pick had a strong season with the Providence Bruins in 2023-24, recording 15 goals, 50 points, and a plus-6 rating in 56 games. It was another step in the right direction for the top prospect, and he will receive NHL consideration next season because of it.

When the Bruins selected Lysell in the first round, the hope was that he would become a top-six winger in the NHL. Now, with the Bruins missing one in their lineup, he may get his first real opportunity with the NHL squad in 2024-25. Let's see if he can have a strong training camp and earn an NHL spot.
