The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Thunderbirds by a 5-1 final score in Game 3 of their first-round series. With this, Providence has officially knocked the Thunderbirds out of the playoffs and is moving on to the next round.

Boston Bruins top prospect Matt Poitras played a significant role in Providence's win, as he had an impressive performance. The Bruins' 2022 second-round pick scored two goals in the matchup to help Providence pick up their series-clinching win.

Poitras' first goal was particularly important, as he tied the game up at 1-1 for Providence. This was the first of five unanswered goals for Providence that led to the team's victory. It was a nice one, too, as he scored with a beautiful wrist shot.

Poitras' second goal of the game came at the 15:39 mark of the third period, which extended Providence's lead to 5-1. This goal was also a good one from Poitras, as he one-timed a perfect feed from Patrick Brown past Thunderbirds goalie Colten Ellis.

Seeing a performance like this from Poitras in a series-clinching game is simply excellent. It will be fascinating to see how the youngster builds off this clutch game from here.
