Bruins Top Target Lands PTO With Utah HC

This Boston Bruins target has secured a professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the Utah Hockey Club.

Kailer Yamamoto was one of the players the Boston Bruins considered signing to a professional tryout (PTO) contract. Now, that can be forgotten, as the skilled winger has instead signed a PTO with the Utah Hockey Club.

With the Bruins arguably needing more depth at the right wing position, it made sense that Yamamoto was on their radar. He could have been a solid player for the Bruins to take a look at during training camp, but he will now look to earn a contract from Utah HC instead.

Yamamoto, 25, appeared in 59 games last season for the Seattle Kraken, posting eight goals, eight assists, and a minus-9 rating. Overall, it was a down year for the 2017 first-round pick.

During the 2022-23 season with the Edmonton Oilers, Yamamoto had 10 goals and 15 assists. In 2021-22 with Edmonton, he set career highs with 20 goals, 21 assists, and 41 points in 81 games. Thus, he has shown that he can produce fairly well at the NHL level in the past and could bounce back if given a contract for the season.

While the Bruins did not bring in Yamamoto on a PTO, they have invited forward Tyler Johnson to training camp.
