Bryce Young labeled the Carolina Panthers' best building block heading into 2024 season

The lights aren't completely shut on second-year quarterback Bryce Young.

After an offseason spent finding him the necessary help to have a productive second season, adding head coach Dave Canales, and rebuilding Young's confidence, he was labeled the Panthers' best building block heading into the 2024 season.

Bleacher Reports' David Kenyon put together a list of all 32 teams' best young building blocks, without question Young made the cut.

"Look, his rookie year was a disaster. I'm not arguing that," Kenyon writes. "Bryce Young was the No. 1 overall pick for many good reasons, though, and a new coaching staff with an improved receiving corps has created a more encouraging situation in 2024. Young must be far better this season, but it's much too early to give up on him."

The Panthers clearly aren't, doubling down on players like Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette for Young to toss the ball to.

Canales recently gushed praise about the leader Young can be when given the tools to be successful.

"I'm just excited about the talent," Canales said of Young, via The Season with Peter Schrager podcast last week. "It's everything that we saw from over a year ago when we were doing the draft evaluation. It's all there. It's all still there. So it's like, wait, the guy's athletic. He can get the ball out quickly.

"He's a leader. He communicates well. Like, oh, he's got everything we need. OK, Bryce, just do your part, do your 1/11th, do your quarterback part, you're the point guard, and then, we'll everybody else do all there's, and we can dissolve the pressure of 'you've got lead, you've got to do this' and all that. 'You're the one.' No, that's just not true. I have not seen that model of football work and win. In Seattle, we didn't put it all on (Russell Wilson's) plate. So that's not the model we're going to try to create in Carolina."

Carolina knows its future is in Young's hands. He now has to live up to the billing.
